Constructed of gilded feinzink, the obverse bearing a raised Westphalian horse, flanked by a lippe rose and date of 1936, topped by an inscription of DDAC GAU 5 WESTFALEN, and situated above the coats of arms of the Sturmabteilung (SA), Schutzstaffel (SS), National Socialist Motor Corps (NSKK), German Automobile Club (DDAC), Wehrmacht, and HJ, in turn above an inscription of 12.
