Antique Wood Ski Poles vintage hammer It is in excellent conditionAntique Wooden Shaft Ski Poles c. 1920s 30s, 20th Century Wood, leather, metal 61" tall x 5. 5" basket diameter Vintage Winter Downhill ski poles . Leather strap style grip, and leather and metal basket (5. 5") in good condition. Single poles were used until about 1910 and made of a hardwood (hickory, willow, oak, etc.) to be sturdy and strong push sticks. In the 1920s, bamboo shafts became popular because they were lighter weight and still strong.
